With 20 years in the performance and entertainment industry Dunedin-based Douglas is one of the busiest producers, directors and entertainers in the country having amassed an impressive array of drama, television, concert and musical theatre credits.
As a producer and director he has been responsible for over 60 national and international musical theatre productions including The Rocky Horror Show, Les Miserables, The Producers, The Addams Family, The Buddy Holly Story, JC Superstar, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Cabaret, Chess, Me & My Girl, 42nd Street and A Chorus Line. He toured New Zealand & Asia in the international casts of Chicago & Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Television credits include regular guest appearances on Xena Warrior Princess, Street Legal, Shortland Street, The Pretender and Passion in Paradise. As a television host he fronted the high profile weekly draw of Lotto for 2 ½ years as well as The Lounge, 3 seasons of Destination New Zealand, the award winning reality game show - The Vodafone V24 Challenge and the Living Channels travel show ‘Hit the Road’.
In 2014 he joined forces with Taieri Musical to co-produce and direct Dunedin’s sellout season of Mamma Mia.
He again produced and directed Grease: The Arena Spectacular Live with Taieri Musical in 2016 and Mary Poppins in 2017 at the Regent Theatre, for both of these shows Doug was awarded Best Direction at the Otago Southland Theatre Awards.
In 2018 Doug directed the hugely popular production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert at The Regent Theatre for Musical Theatre Dunedin and Grease: The Arena Spectacular Live for Invercargill Musical Theatre while 2019 saw him direct two productions of Wicked for Musical Theatre Dunedin and Invercargill Musical Theatre and he will be back at the helm in 2020 for the third time as director of Les Miserables (Musical Theatre Dunedin)
Craig Reeves, Doug Wright and Marcel Rodeka are the core of Dunedin’s iconic Oxo Cubans.
2016 winners of the OSTA for Musical Direction of “Grease The Stadium Spectacular”, this year the band reunites with Doug Kamo’s DKCM and The Taieri Musical Society as Musical Directors for the unique stadium production of MAMMA MIA.
2020 also marks the Oxo Cubans 25th Anniversary year.
Band members have shared stages around the globe with a variety of performers including Queen, The Bellamy Brothers, Tom T Hall, Johnny Ray, Max Merritt, Ricky Scaggs, Jimmy Barnes, Joan Armatrading, Mother Goose, Emmy Lou Harris, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tammy Wynette, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Sir Bob Geldof.
For the past 25 years the Oxos have been employed in many capacities across a wide range of musical genres.
In live performance the band regularly appears at Civic concerts, Music Festivals and Corporate Events. It provides musical direction for the Annual APRA/NZ Songwriting Trust Music Awards under the direction of Doug Wright.
As session musicians, the band has recorded with a variety of artists.
In addition to drummer Marcel Rodeka’s legendary drum tuition clinics, Oxo members teach various musical disciplines at Otago University and other tertiary institutions.
The Oxo Cubans philosophy has been to encourage and promote local musicians and crew. As a result the band’s musical family has a membership in excess of 400 Dunedin artists and a number of New Zealand and Australian national and international performers.
Oxo musicians continue to be an integral part of the Dunedin arts community. They are long-standing performing members of the Musical Societies, The Sinfonia, Professional Theatre, The Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra, The Dunedin Festival of the Arts, the University of Otago Contemporary Music Faculty and the award winning St Kilda Brass.
The band has established a strong bond with Dunedin and southern New Zealand through performances for community organizations including The Otago Community Hospice, The Life Education Trust, The Southland M.S. Society, Youth First, The Cancer Society, the Volunteer Fire Service, The Dunedin Santa Parade Trust, the Malcam Trust, the Regent Theatre 24 hour Book sale, Dunedin’s New Year’s Eve Octagon Concert, Relay for Life and other community projects.
It could be the core Oxo Trio playing a café gig or house party or the Oxo 4, 5, or 6 piece "Big Combo" packing the dance-floor at a wedding reception. The 16-piece Oxo Country Rock Roadshow playing the Rodeo Circuit or the Oxo Classic Rhythm & Blues Big Band headlining a music festival, civic concert or corporate event.
An Oxo Cubans performance guarantees the audience a great time of excellent music and lively entertainment.

Sydney born dancer, Emma trained in classical ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance from a young age. Her performance career took her around Australia, India and Taiwan on numerous corporate and theme park contracts. She moved to Dunedin in 2008 and began teaching at Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz where she now teaches classes in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet and Tap. Her teaching expertise also stretches to the Dunedin Ice Skating Club where she coaches students in presentation, choreography and performance. Since being in New Zealand, she has danced with DKCM Ltd, Brophy Aerials, the Boom Boom Room and the Otago Dancers, performing and choreographing pieces for various shows and sporting and corporate events such as the Big Night In, Dunedin’s Mid-Winter Carnival, Fringe Festival, Santa Parade, All Blacks and NZ Breakers games.
Emma made her Musical Theatre debut in 2014 with DKCM and Taieri Musical's Mamma Mia! Since then she has choreographed musicals around the Otago region including: Oklahoma, The Addams Family, Gourmet Broadway, Grease – The Arena Spectacular Dunedin and Invercargill, Anything Goes, Mary Poppins, Westend to Broadway, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Wicked in Dunedin and Invercargill. She has won Best Choreography at the Otago Southland Theatre Awards in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Kelly Hocking is a native of California, USA where she trained in acting and voice at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles. She first arrived in New Zealand in 2004 and is now a proud citizen.
Kelly works as a voice coach and technician and is the Principal at The Voice Lab NZ based in Dunedin. Through The Voice Lab, Kelly works with a variety of clients from beginning singers to professional recording artists throughout New Zealand. She also mentors and trains other teachers and is very passionate about providing support for new teachers in particular.
In addition to coaching, Kelly is also a regular performer. She has appeared in productions for The Fortune Theatre in Dunedin, The Court Theatre in Christchurch, Musical Theatre Dunedin, Taieri Musical Society, North Shore Musical Society in Auckland and in national touring productions for THETA.
Credits include “Kate/Lucy” in Avenue Q, “Ellen” in Miss Saigon, “Roxie Hart” in Chicago, “Janet” in Boeing Boeing, “Winifred Banks” in Mary Poppins, a “Diva” in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,”and most recently as “Glinda” in Wicked. Her first solo show, “Thief” will appear in The Dunedin Fringe Festival in March 2020 and is being produced by Prospect Park Productions.
